Virginia Hodgkinson had already purchased a url address from Melbourne IT but needed someone to build and host a website to display her work. She requested a website that would be easy for both the user to use and the administrator to keep updated.

I went for a simple design & structure for the site to allow her work to draw all of the focus. When new pieces are added to the site they automatically display throughout all pages of the website.

Taking a different direction from the normal magazine website, the focus here is on a daily ‘dawn partrol’ surf report put together by the editors of the magazine. By providing high quality content every day the website intends to set the standard for the magazines launch. The structure of the site ensures endless opportunities for future changes and expansion.

Photoshop tricks to help your surfing!

Photoshop CS4 has a few nifty little tricks in the bonnet but their Content-Aware Scaling is something really impressive. It lets you re-size images according to your height and width specifications without messing up the pixel information too much.

It doesn’t work with all images but I’ve found it pretty fun playing around with certain surfing images - You can quickly and easily add a few feet to the waves by simply stretching the height of the images. Who can you trust now when it’s this easy to manipulate your digital pics?

Dale Adams needed a website to create wider awareness for his building business - Golden Plains Building Solutions. He wanted the theme of the site to fit in with his current graphic identity but to also stand out and showcase his work in the best possible light. The Ocean Grove Voice wanted to update and improve their existing website to cater for their growing publication. The editor of the newspaper wanted to make the site as interactive as possible to encourage feedback and involvement from users. The site features a range of content from basic news stories and photos to video and audio files - all of which are uploaded and updated by the papers editor.

Another important request was to make each of their publications available online in a simple to read manner.

Free Silhouette Vectors - Surfing & Diving action

Here’s a pack of free vector silhouettes made from some photos taken in Indonesia. The pack includes a surfing sequence and some silhouettes of people diving off a boat. I tried submitting them to some vector stock sites but got rejected so I thought I’d share them around - enjoy! Feel free to use them for any commercial jobs - just no re-selling.
